Taken from thousands- frerard- chapter 2

"I volunteer." I hear from the mob of people.

An adolescent teenager steps from the mob. I've seen him around the town but I don't know him all that well. The woman smiles at him and steps closer.

"Ah, Gerard Way. You'd like to take your brother's spot in The Hunger Games, eh?" The woman says pacing back and fourth.

Gerard- I assume his name is- nods sternly not losing eye contact with the woman. "Y-yes, I would." He stumbles over his words a little, still not losing eye contact with the woman.

"You do understand," the woman says stopping in her place and looks directly into Gerard's hazel eyes. "The Hunger Games is very difficult, correct?"

Gerard nods sternly again, but seems to have slightly more fear in his eyes this time. "Yes, I understand."

The woman smiles and looks out over the crowd. "Gerard will be replacing Michael's position in The Hunger Games."

Gerard walks over next to me as the crowd remains silent. I look over at him. He looks over at his brother who seemed to be on the verge of tears. Gerard has guts to take his younger brother's place in the games. I'd never be able to do that.
